Spring is in the soil…

April on the Farm: Bud Break, Blossoms, and Birthday Cheer

Spring has officially arrived, and the farm is alive with signs of new beginnings! Here are some of the latest happenings and highlights from the past week at our vineyard and farm.

The First Grape Bud Break

We’re thrilled to share that the first grapevines have broken bud! This is a major milestone each year, marking the start of the growing season and filling us with anticipation for the months ahead. The vineyard is waking up, and it’s a beautiful sight.

A Resilient Volunteer Tomato

In a delightful surprise, we discovered a volunteer tomato plant thriving in the high tunnel in early April. It has already weathered several chilly mornings with temperatures in the low 30s, which tells us this little plant is tough and cold-tolerant. We’re cheering it on!

Birthday Bash on the Patio

We recently hosted a special birthday party on our farm’s patio, surrounded by early spring blooms and good cheer. The warm energy and rustic charm of the setting made for a memorable gathering, and we’re so grateful to be part of these milestone moments.

A Familiar Garden Guest

For at least the tenth year in a row, we’ve discovered a Killdeer nest in our garden. It’s always a joy to witness nature’s return in familiar ways, and this nesting ritual has become one of our cherished seasonal traditions.

Grapevine Cuttings Coming to Life

In both our high tunnel and germination chamber, grapevine cuttings are beginning to sprout to life. It’s an exciting step in our propagation work, and we can’t wait to see these future vines thrive. We’re also thrilled to report that our fruit tree cuttings are surviving directly in the ground, showing strong signs of growth.

Bridal Flower Garden in Bloom (Almost)

We’ve completed the structure for the new bridal flower garden, and have planted many bulbs to get things blooming. Next up: sowing thousands of seeds to bring this garden to full glory. It’s shaping up to be a stunning space for weddings, events, and photography.

Graveling the Way

We’ve brought in 130 tons of gravel for our parking area to better accommodate our guests—but we’re not done yet! There's still more to go as we continue to improve access and infrastructure across the estate.

Free Baby Showers in 2025

We're excited to announce a very special offer: complimentary baby showers at our vineyard estate venue throughout 2025! This includes tables and seating for up to 50 guests, and a variety of beautiful locations to choose from across the estate. Visit thevenueatblackphasukivineyards.com to learn more and reserve your spot.

As always, thank you for following our journey. We’re excited for what’s ahead this season and hope to see you at the farm soon!
